County Limerick VEC-FETAC Level 5 Forestry Course
Do you have an interest in trees? Are you interested in farm forestry or a career in forestry?
County Limerick VEC is giving you the opportunity to achieve a FETAC Level 5 qualification in this area.
County Limerick VEC is offering a part time course in forestry starting in early November under the Back to Education Initiative. The course will be based in the old Vocational School in Abbeyfeale.
The course is designed for those with a general interest in forestry, or those who wish to obtain a FETAC Level 5 Major Award in Forestry.
Course aim
The course provides sound understanding of the fundamental knowledge and the essential skills required for forestry operations. The course is aimed at those who are:
- Looking to expand or update their skills and training
- Looking to improve career prospects
- Looking to obtain a recognised qualification
- Looking to advance to higher level education

Individual Component Subjects
Individuals who are not in a position to undertake full awards due to family/other commitments may take single components with a view to building up credits over time to meet the requirements for full awards and achieve qualifications that are recognised nationally.
The following individual components will be offered throughout the county (Abbeyfeale, Askeaton, Bruff, Cappamore, Castletroy, Croom, Hospital, Kilfinane, Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Patrickswell and Rathkeale).
