Community Education

What is Community Education Facilitation?

Community Education aims to facilitate learning by adults in their own community.

Community Education is delivered across County Limerick from Askeaton to Mountcollins and from Castleconnell to Ballyagran. Courses take place in a wide variety of venues from Community Centres, Primary Schools, Post - Primary Schools as well as Family Resource Centres and Community Development Projects.

Community Education is learner centred.
Community Education delivery is self-directed and based on the needs requested by Community Groups. Community Education is broad ranging in terms of the choice of subjects on offer i.e. Parenting, Personal Development, Art & Craft. This is reflective of the range of groups we deliver to. Community Education is also responsive to the changing needs of our learners.  Community Education works fom the principles of equality, inclusion and collective action.

Community Education supports community groups.
Community Education can have an important role in supporting community groups who are starting up or in maintaining existing community groups.  Co. Limerick V.E.C. also recognises the important role that our partners West Limerick Resources, Ballyhoura Development Ltd., Hospital F.R.C., Croom F.R.C. and West Limerick C.D.P. play in the support and maintenance of community groups. The Community Education Service operates from and promotes the principle of partnership in its supporting community groups.
