Fealeside Education Centre, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

Due to the changes that society is experiencing, demographics, technological and economical, there is a greater emphasis on adopting a lifelong approach to education in Irish society. The aim of the Fealeside Education Centre is to to facilitate the present and future adult education and training needs of the Abbeyfeale community and its environs.
• To promote; independence, personal autonomy, active citizenship and a pattern of life-long learning for participants
• To develop an inter-agency approach that will promote and enhance a coordinated strategy for the development of courses.
• Provide adults with a second chance of developing skills that enable people to cope with social, economic and technological change.
• To acknowledge and respond to various learning styles through diverse teaching methodologies.
• To develop supports within the centre to assist learners in their pursuit of adult education.
• To foster both personal and social development for learners.

 

Adult Education Programmes:

Abbeyfeale Education Centre provides adults' wwith the opportunity to access continuous education programmes within the context of a lifelong learning environment.

A Back to Education Initiative is run in the Fealeside Education Centre that provides FETAC Certification up to level 3. This operates on a part time basis.
  • We provide FETAC certification at level 3.  This is currently provided on a full time basis
  • We offer a two year full time LCA - Leaving Certificate Applied programme

Back to Education Initative (BTEI) subjects currently on offer include:

  • Computer Literacy Level 3, Information Technology Level 4, Computer Applications Level 4, Word Processing Level 5 and Digital Media Course Level 3 

FETAC Subjects on offer include:


Communications, Literacy Support, Crafts. , Food and Nutrition Math's and ICT. Childcare   Study Skills Support, Irish Spanish and Media Awareness.

 

Leaving Certificate Applied:

This is a two year programme which offers subject areas as follows:
ICT, Office Administration & Customer Care, Vocational Prep &Guidance, Social Education & Health, Spanish, English / Media Awareness, Irish, Hair &Beauty, Drama, Maths, ICT, Leisure Studies, and Art / Visual Education.
In recognition of the ethos of the Fealeside Education Centre and its commitment to lifelong learning literacy support and study skills are offered to all students. Learners also participate in supervised work experience programmes which are a central feature of the Advocacy work within the education centre.
