Youthreach Shanagolden Graduation
The sun shone beautifully for this outdoor ceremony which took place in the grounds of SERC, Shanagolden Education Resource Centre, amidst the trees and flowers and the background sounds of the many small birds, all an integral part of this natural learning environment. The eleven graduates were commended and congratulated for their work, achievements and commitment to lifelong learning. All students had successfully completed a FETAC level 5 certification in Hairdressing and Childcare.
Helena MacMahon, Co-ordinator, Youthreach, Shanagolden commended the students, tutors, staff, family, outside agencies and County Limerick VEC, paying particular tribute to Eimear Brophy, Adult Education Officer, Co. Limerick VEC for her guidance and support and Séan Burke, CEO, Co. Limerick VEC for his vision and commitment to lifelong learning. Together she said “we have created a new constellation with eleven shining stars to brighten the future and lead the way for others to follow” she pointed to a row of eleven gold stars hanging high behind the podium and said “each star represents one of you.” Eimear Brophy, Adult Education Officer, in her address commended the students highly on their achievement and commitment and applauded their manner of public address, she reminded them that sometimes the shine is not so obvious on your star and sometimes we get clouds to darken our way, but there is always light there we just have to keep believing in ourselves.
